The best kinds of movies to watch in your home cinema are the ones that pack in the action and deliver dynamic visuals best enjoyed on the big screen!

With 11 years’ worth of epic superhero movies, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has got a lot to offer when it comes to cinema favourites. But which are the best? Here, we rank our top five movies in the MCU.

As movie aficionados and home cinema installation experts, we understand the value of a next-level viewing experience. Honorary Mentions

Before we explore our top five, these honorary mentions are also worthy of note!

  • Iron Man (2008): The very first MCU title and still one that holds up today.
  • Avenger Infinity War (2018) and Avengers Endgame (2019): The two parts of the ambitious crosser and overwhelming culmination of the MCU thus far.
  • Captain American Civil War (2016): A departure from the sometimes cartoonish plot of the earlier Captain America movies.
  • Captain Marvel (2019): An exhilarating origin story set in the 90s.

5. Avengers Assemble (2012)

As the film that essentially started the MCU as we have come to know and love it today, this film had to have a spot on our list.

Avengers Assemble includes the first of many crossovers as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye must protect New York from an oncoming invasion.

This film helps set up the MCU and the superhero genre as a whole, essentially introducing a new way in which we enjoy cinema. It is just the beginning of what is set up for the epic culmination of the series in Infinity War, Endgame and the future of the MCU.

4. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Fans are no stranger to Spider-Man with both the Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield franchises, but Homecoming manages to bring a fresh iteration of the much-loved teenaged superhero.

Opting not to go for another tired Peter Parker origin story, Marvel breathes new life into this fan-favourite hero. Homecoming perfectly balances the amusing high school drama and high-action adventuring of the web-slinging hero.

3. Black Panther (2018)

Many cite Black Panther as an elevation of the genre as it rapidly became both a favourite of the fans and critics. This idea was quickly solidified when it became the first superhero movie to be nominated for an Academy Award Best Picture!

The movie was successful in executing a level of world and character building that makes it stand apart from its fellow MCU instalments. The story is absorbing and is so easy to get lost in; Black Panther is certainly a must for fans of immersive cinema.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 (2014)

Guardians of the Galaxy is, at times, gleefully self-aware of the silliness inherent to superhero movies and uses this awareness to its advantage.

The unlikely cast of characters (including a talking racoon and a sentient tree) get into continual trouble against the backdrop of a soundtrack born from the 70s and 80s.

This movie also gave us a closer look at Thanos, the ultimate advisory that the Avengers and their fellow heroes must contend with in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

1. Thor: Ragnarock (2017)

Wildly funny and visually stunning, the third instalment in the Thor franchise gets our top spot!

Ragnarock takes a departure from the over-serious Thor and Thor: The Dark World with a light-hearted adventure focused on family and redemption.

Many fans consider this to be the funniest Marvel movie so far, and director Taika Waititi seamlessly blends this humour with the action and intrigue that we have come to expect from Marvel films.

All this wrapped up with a fantastic soundtrack, and it’s no wonder Thor Ragnarock found its ways to our top spot!

If you want to watch, or re-watch, any of these superhero epics from the comfort of your own home, why not ensure your home cinema set-up is the best it can be? For further guidance about home cinema installation, get in touch with our expert team.
